How to Setup a Microsoft Account


Easy Steps to Qualify your hardware, systems, and software for the "Designed for Microsoft® Windows®" logo

bulletIt is a requirement that use a computer running Windows 2000 or Windows XP to establish Microsoft Windows Logo Program Qualification Service account.
bulletGo to Windows Logo Program Qualification Service to verify whether your company has Windows Logo Program Qualification Service account or not.
bulletIf your company is not listed under Participating Companies, you should create an account following next steps.
bulletGet your VeriSign® Code Signing ID before establishing Microsoft WLPQS account.
bullet Special notice on VeriSign® Code Signing ID:
bulletUpon completing enrollment form, you will be ask to save a file myprivatekey.pvk to your floppy disk.
bulletIt will also prompt you to key in password for this myprivatekey.pvk file.
bulletPlease keep your file and password safely stored.
bulletAfter a few hours to a few days, you should receive an e-mail from VeriSign to instruct you picking up the Digital ID file mycredentials.spc.
bulletYou have to use the same computer which you initially purchased VeriSign Code Signing ID to pick up this file.
bulletYou can save this file to the same floppy disk of myprivatekey.pvk file.
bulletNow, you can duplicate both files by copying them to a new folder C:\keys at your hard drive.
bulletYou need to have both files in order to continue next procedures.

bulletGo to Windows Logo Program Qualification Service to Establish a Qualification Service Account.
bulletDownload the WLPQS.EXE file  and the Authenticode Code-Signing Tools CODESIGN.EXE file to C:\keys folder, and code-sign the WLPQS.EXE file.
bulletRun CODESIGN.EXE file to expand this zipped file to this default folder C:\inetsdk\bin at your hard drive.
bulletGo to Command Prompt screen.  (Start -> Run -> type cmd -> OK)
bulletType CD \
bulletCode-sign WLPQS.EXE file by typing C:\InetSDK\Bin\signcode -spc c:\keys\mycredentials.spc -v c:\keys\myprivatekey.pvk -t http://timestamp.verisign.com/scripts/timstamp.dll c:\keys\WLPQS.EXE
bulletProceed to next screen by clicking Continue.
bulletBrowse your code-signed WLPQS.EXE from hard drive folder C:\keys\WLPQS.EXE.
bulletContinue to fill out your account information.
bulletWindows Logo Program Qualification Service will generate a password for each of your administrator or user account that you had better print out this password to keep in a safe place.
bulletDone!!!
